Rain welcomed the visiting River City Rascals when they arrived at Champion Window Field. Lyle Travis and his grounds crew did a fantastic job in preparing the field despite the bad weather, and the game started after just an hour and 22 minute delay. The Freedom sent Luke Brown to the mound, while River City sent Steve Brook.

After River City opened the game with a run, the Freedom answered with a run of their own. Greg Stone led off the inning with a walk, and then later scored on a Beau Blacken RBI single. Tim Grogan led off the fourth inning with a solo shot to right, his seventh of the year. Florence opened the flood gates in the sixth. Beau Blacken led off the inning with a double, and then advanced to third on a Tim Grogan single. Joe Holland then drove both of them home with a single of his own. In all, four runs were scored in the sixth to give the Freedom a commanding 6-1 lead. River City scored one in the seventh, and one in the ninth, but the Freedom prevailed 6-3.

Luke Brown (2-0) tossed a complete game, allowing three runs on eight hits, striking out five. Beau Blacken powered the offense from the cleanup role, he went 3-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Tim Grogan went 3-4 with a homerun, an RBI, and a run scored. Joe Holland's hot streak continued, he went 3-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Josh Lex and J.D. Foust each added two singles.

Game two of a three game set will be played Saturday night at 6:05, gates opening at 5:05 for Champion Window Super Saturday. Nick Dunning will get the call for Florence. Fans can stay after the game for 92.5 FM the Fox/Miller Lite Party in the Ballpark.
