Freedom win 8 - 5 over River City
Sweep the series!
The Freedom concluded a six-game homestand Sunday night at Champion Window Field. Florence sent lefty Alain Quijano to the mound, while River City sent Chris Clem. The Freedom were looking for a sweep, and a win would put them at 4-2 on the six-game homestand. Greg Stone led off the game for Florence with a single, and was driven home by a J.D. Foust RBI double. Beau Blacken hit a sac fly to left, scoring Foust. After one, the Freedom led 2-0. Another run was tacked on in the second, when Greg Stone drove in Josh Lex on a single. The Freedom had another scoring inning in the sixth, two runs came home on fielder's choices. Josh Lex got the scoring started in the seventh with an RBI double, and Greg Stone drove in a run on a sac fly. The Freedom's scoring was capped off by a Beau Blacken solo shot to left center in the eighth. Freedom take the win, and sweep the series, final score 8-5. Alain Quijano gave a solid effort, he went seven scoreless innings, giving up just five hits while striking out three in the win. Greg Stone went 2-3 with two RBI and a run scored. J.D. Foust went 2-4 with a double, two RBI, and a run scored. Beau Blacken went 1-4 with a solo homerun, two RBI, and a run scored. Josh Lex went 2-5 with a double, two RBI, and a run scored. Mike Wadowski went 3-4 with a run scored. The Freedom now head out on a six game roadtrip, first on a trip to Sauget, Illinois to take on the Gateway Grizzlies. The Freedom will return home on Sunday, August 5th, when they will welcome in the Chillicothe Paints to open up a six-game homestand.
