Florence loses high scoring game, 15-9
The Freedom lose their first meeting of the year against Rockford
The Florence Freedom lost a high scoring game which featured eight homers, four by each team. The Rockford RiverHawks improve to 23-23 and the Freedom drop to 22-24 on the season. Florence struck first in the top of the first inning. Ryan Basham drove in Tim Grogan to give the Freedom an early 1-0 lead. The Rockford RiverHawks evened things up in the next half inning on a solo homer from Brandon Cohan. The game was tied when the RiverHawks exploded for five runs in the top of the third inning. Rockford scored four runs on five hits and took a 6-1 lead. The Freedom were down by six runs in the bottom of the 4th inning. Florence scored two runs in the 4th and four runs in the 5th to even the game at eight. Kelly Hunt led the Freedom with two homers. Hunt is leading the Frontier League in homers at 15, and Hunt has homered in six of the last seven games. The RiverHawks broke the tie in the top of the 6th inning. Brad Dutton hit a solo homer, his second of the ballgame. The RiverHawks never looked back and scored six more runs to beat the Freedom 15-9. The Rockford bullpen was the key to the game for the RiverHawks. The bullpen went five innings and only gave up one run. Florence and Rockford continue their three game series tomorrow with an 11:05 morning game at Champion Window Field.
