GAME RECAP / BOX SCORE

Hunt hits a walk-off homer as Florence sweeps the double header against Rockford
Hunt’s league leading 17th homer gives the Freedom a thrilling 6-4 victory

Kelly Hunt hit an absolute bomb in extra innings as the Freedom win their second game in a row in their last at bat. Hunt hit his league-leading 17th homer of the season, and it was the biggest homer he’s hit all year. Trailing by one run, with two on and two out in extra innings, Kelly Hunt came to the plate. Hunt took a 3-0 fastball and drove it over the left field wall for a walk-off three run shot.

Rockford was ahead by one run in the bottom of the 7th inning and the Freedom were down to their last at-bat. Because the game was the second game of a double-header, it was only scheduled to go seven innings. Kelly Hunt homered in the bottom of the 7th to tie the game and force extra innings.

After giving up two runs in the top of the 8th, the Freedom came up trailing by two runs. After a ground-out from John Welch, the next three Freedom batters walked, loading the bases for Josh Lex. Lex hit a sac-fly to cut the lead to one and bring up Kelly Hunt. The rest is history, as Hunt homered for the second time in the game and the Freedom won a dramatic game against Rockford.

The Freedom won both games in thrilling fashion. The Freedom won the first game of the double header by a score of 3-2 on a walk-off hit from Billy Mottram.
