FLORENCE, Ky. — The Florence Freedom, presented by Titan Mechanical Solutions, have named a new Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the 2017 season.
Spenser Smith, a native of Walla Walla, Wash., will assume head broadcasting and media relations duties for the club in its fifteenth season of play.
“The Freedom are a first-rate organization committed to fun, and I’m looking forward to this exciting opportunity to call the action on a nightly basis,” Smith said.
Smith, 24, comes to the Greater Cincinnati area after serving in a similar role for the Portland (Ore.) Pickles of the collegiate wood-bat Great West League in 2016. In 2015, he broadcasted games for the Frontier League-affiliated California Winter League, as well as for the single-A Lancaster (Calif.) JetHawks.
“Spenser has a true love for the game of baseball and it shows through in the quality of his broadcast,” Freedom VP & General Manager Josh Anderson said. “Fans will enjoy the action brought to life this season by Spenser.”
Entering his fifth season of calling baseball play-by-play, Smith brings a veteran voice and a passionate flair to the booth at UC Health Stadium.
The Northern Kentucky newcomer will also spearhead the team’s media department, producing a variety of audio, video and written content that fans can enjoy throughout the summer.
The Freedom will begin their 2017 season on the road before hosting the Southern Illinois Miners in their home opener on May 17 at UC Health Stadium. Fans will be able to listen live to each game at FlorenceFreedom.com. Affordable season ticket packages and group tickets are currently on sale for the 2017 season.
